Reset your Bodyclock with Acupressure!

Arrive at your destination feeling relaxed, refreshed and ready to go! This app shows you exactly how to reset your body clock using acupressure. The app is based on what time it is at your destination. Clear photos of point locations appear on your screen at regular intervals, showing you which points to hold.

How the Jetlag App Works:

To reset your bodyclock for the time zone of your destination, just follow these easy instructions:

  1. After downloading the app, select “Let’s Begin” and follow the steps to select your destination time zone and to choose the times you’d like to receive reminders.
  2. If you’ve already boarded your aircraft, set your watch to the new time zone and visualize being there at whatever time it is now—morning, noon or night.
  3. This app will send you a message at each of your selected alert times. You’ll see a clear photo of which point to hold at that time.
  4. When you receive an alert, simply apply gentle finger pressure to the indicated points for two minutes as you picture yourself being at your destination. Remember to imagine the correct time of day or night!
  5. For best results continue these mini treatments every two hours while you are traveling, and for a few hours once you arrive at your destination.
  6. If you sleep through an alert, or if you’re just curious which point to hold now, go to the Settings screen to check what time it is at your destination, and see which point to hold to calibrate your body clock.
  7. Avoid the temptation to keep track of what time it is at home. Focusing on what time it is at your destination will make your transition to the new time zone much quicker and easier.
  8. When you are ready to return home, or to journey to your next destination, follow these steps again. You will feel energetic and refreshed when you arrive.

How Acupressure Calibrates the Body Clock

As we travel across time zones it’s natural for our internal rhythm to become disrupted. Our 24-hour sleep/wake cycle is especially sensitive to this disruption. The National Aeronautic and Space Administration (NASA) estimates that the normal rhythm of the adult body takes about one day to recover for every time zone crossed. We know this phenomenon as jetlag, and thankfully, there’s an easy, natural solution!

During a 24-hour period the energy (chi) in the body follows a predictable pattern of ebb and flow. This pattern moves through each of the 12 energy pathways (meridians) in such a way that energy peaks in each meridian during specific two hour time periods. For instance between the hours of 11am and 1pm the Heart energy is at it’s strongest. These two hour phases are known as the “horary” times. Fortunately, there is a point on each of these 12 meridians that balances and calibrates the body in relationship to this ebb and flow. These are known as the “horary points.”

By holding a horary point with firm, gentle pressure while a meridian is at “high tide” we can calibrate our internal clock to any time zone in the world.

About Acupressure for Insomnia

The National Institutes of Health reports that sleep and sleep-related problems play a role in a large number of human disorders and affect almost every field of medicine. Lack of sleep can disrupt health in the body, mind, emotions and spirit.

From time to time we all struggle with insomnia—the inability to sleep. Our 24-hour sleep/wake cycle is one of many predictable energy patterns in the body, and can be adjusted using acupressure.

During a 24-hour period, the energy (chi) in the body follows a predictable pattern of ebb and flow. This is known as the “horary cycle” or more familiarly as the circadian rhythm. This pattern moves through each of the 12 energy pathways (meridians) in such a way that energy peaks in each meridian during specific two hour time periods. For instance between the hours of 11am and 1pm the Heart energy is at it’s strongest. These two hour phases are known as the “horary” times. This method has been known and used in Chinese Medicine for thousands of years.

Often a pattern of wakefulness during a particular horary time will indicate some sort of disruption in the natural flow of energy through that particular meridian. This sort of disruption is not uncommon, and can account for issues such as infant and mother’s sleep patterns, jetlag, swing shift challenges, and insomnia.

Fortunately, there is a point on each of these 12 meridians that balances and calibrates the body in relationship to this natural ebb and flow. Stimulating the horary point during the peak time for each meridian gets your sleep cycle back on track and makes it possible for the body to recalibrate and acclimate itself to a normal wake/sleep cycle. By holding a horary point with firm, gentle pressure while a meridian is at “high tide” you can calibrate your internal clock easily and naturally.

Restoring normal sleeping and waking patters is essential for robust health. Many prescription and over the counter sleep aids aim to subdue or trick the body into feeling sleepy. This acupressure method is not intended to override medical care, however, if you are simply experiencing a disturbance in one of the natural flows of energy in the body it can be extremely effective to recalibrate your system. This method simply encourages the cycle of energy to flow clearly during its peak time.
