Process Acupressure

About Process Acupressure

Process Acupressure (PA) is a "whole-person" therapeutic modality that integrates bodywork with mental, emotional and spiritual processing. The experience of receiving this work is authentic and empowering. Process Acupressure is unprecedented in its simplicity and effectiveness for enhancing personal growth.

All parts of a human being, and nature itself, are interconnected and dependent on each other. Teachings about this perspective can be traced back thousands of years. The Chinese mapped predictable energy pathways (meridians) throughout the body nearly 4000 years ago, and have been using them as a health reference ever since. Ancient teachings from India inform us about major energy centers in the body (chakras). These traditions address the vital energies of the body, to facilitate balance, rejuvenation, and wellness.

Process Acupressure integrates these ancient teachings with contemporary psychological and spiritual understanding, to promote health and self-responsibility for wellbeing.

What is a Process Acupressure session like?

Typically, a PA session takes from 1 to 1 1/2 hours. The client lies fully clothed on a massage table while the practitioner applies gentle pressure to the acupoints. Normally, the session has several phases:

  • Relaxation: As a state of relaxation occurs, the client may become aware of issues within the body and/or consciousness.
  • Awareness: As the session progresses, the client may go into a deeper state of awareness, beneath surface tension, to access clarity or guidance about the issues at hand.
  • Integration: Finally, integration and completion of the process occur as the session is closed with chakra balancing and grounding.

What makes Process Acupressure so effective?

Process Acupressure is based on the premise that our physical bodies hold the archives of our lives. One way to access and release what no longer serves us from past events is to invite the body to direct its own clear, strong energy through the areas where these memories are held. PA does this in a simple and direct way, through more than 100 specialized acupressure formulas, designed to address all parts of the body, and specific conditions. Process Acupressure practitioners are skilled at facilitating this exploration on the mental, emotional and spiritual levels, as well. Clients are empowered to control the pace and depth of this exploration at all times.

How do practitioners use Process Acupressure?

Process Acupressure can be practiced by itself, or in combination with psychotherapy or other bodywork modalities. It is particularly helpful for professional bodyworkers who are interested in facilitating psycho-spiritual processing, and/or for psychotherapists who want to facilitate body-held awareness. PA is especially helpful with stress-related conditions, including post-traumatic stress. It is not appropriate for severe medical problems or psychosis, and does not supplant medical care.
